On October 20, 2021, we celebrated 260 years since the family’s historic achievement of successfully producing the first internationally acclaimed excellent wines of America and we recommit to the centuries-old vision to create a viable Virginia Wine Industry rooted in a foundation of wine excellence!
This year, on Friday, November 11th we celebrate this momentous day with a discount on our 1762 port-inspired wine! This wine is named after the year that Charles Carter’s wine was recognized with a Gold Medal by the Royal Society of the Arts in London. This port-style dessert wine is 100% Chambourcin that has been aged in Bourbon Whiskey barrels from the A. Smith Bowman distillery for 60 months. It is fortified shortly after fermentation with high alcohol brandy and is both unfiltered and unfined. This wine shows an intense deep red color with orange hues from longer barrel aging. On the palate, it is full of ripe red fruit flavors, rich dark chocolate, and a touch of bourbon leading to a long-lasting finish.
