September 3: Free Friday Movie in the Vineyard-featured film,
A Good Year,
starting at 8:00 p.m. and concluding at 11 p.m. Drive in, bring lawn
chairs or a blanket and take in a film about wine while you’re drinking
ours! Must be 21. |

September 4-6: Labor Day Weekend,
Release of 2009 Cabernet Franc.- The aromas of strawberries and
cherries abound on this dark-colored Cabernet Franc that has soft and
round tannins giving it a silky mouth feel. Having aged for nine months
in mostly three and four year-old French oak gives just the right amount
of oak on this fruit forward wine that has gone through complete
malolactic fermentation. |

September 5: Let the Games Begin! Celebrate Labor Day Weekend
with lawn games, kites, and Frisbees. We have Frisbees and pits for your
game of Horseshoes.. Bring your yard games along and spend quality time
with family and friends. |

September 6:-Monday of Labor Day Weekend closes out the summer,
but the fun continues in the fresh air of wine country. September’s
color palette softens the vineyard’s approach to harvest. |

September 11-Sat.: Second Saturday Music Series from 3 – 6 p.m.
with David Davol, guitarist and singer. If you have a request, David
can more than likely meet it. His handout is out a 400-song request list
and it is a work in progress.

September 18, 10am, Rappahannock Rough Ride Partnership –benefit
of Fauquier Free Clinic, this bicycle ride/race in its thirteenth year
goes into wine country. The
Rappahannock Rough Ride is one of Virginia's most beautiful and
challenging one-day bike tours. Your support helps provide medical and
dental care to families that cannot afford it on their own. Every rider
has an equal chance to win one of our fabulous donated prizes. |

September 23:
Grapes with the Apes fundraiser to support the Smithsonian’s
National Zoo. A day of wine tasting, food and animal demonstrations,
live music and a VIP lounge. |

September 25: Northern Virginia Corvette Club - If you love Corvettes, own
one or just have a great appreciation for them, it’s your day for a show
of America’s sports car. Founded in 1969, NVCC is a group of
individuals whose backgrounds are diverse, but who share a common bond,
the love of Corvettes and having fun with them. Join us from 11:00 a.m.
– 6:00 p.m.

On August 24, Virginia's First Lady,
Maureen McDonnell visited Philip Carter
Winery,
as the winery was been selected by the First
Lady to
be part of the
FLITE (First Lady’s Initiatives Team Effort)
program in an effort to increase sales and tourism and to expand awareness
of the Virginia wine industry. During her visit, First Lady
McDonnell was
presented with a sterling silver, gold plated replica of the 1762 medal
awarded to the Carter family in recognition of the first internationally
recognized fine wines produced in colonial America.

the 09 Cabernet Franc won Gold and Bronze at the State Fair of Virginia and
the Indy International Wine Competition. The 08 Cleve also scored with
a Platinum at the Virginia Wine Lover Wine Classic and Silver at the
Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association and the Indy International Wine
Competition.
