Sangria Summer We introduced our Sangria last year and it was a huge success! Come, order a glass and sit on the patio with a view of the vineyard and the Blue Ridge before you. Sangria will be available each weekend this month.

August through October:  Virginia Artist Showcase Artist, Mark Isaacs, impressionist. Art has always been apart of Mark’s life. When he is asked what most influences his art style, he responds: Impressionists, parents and his brother. As far back as he can recall his family went on frequent visits to numerous art museums and galleries. The colorful landscapes of Rousseau, Seurat, Gauguin, Monet, and others nourished his imagination. His mother, an artist, viewed that all colors were present everywhere, one only had to look. His father, an architect, believed in observation without preconception. His bother, Henry, an artist teaches observation as a continual learning process.

Another great influence on his art is the natural beauty around him where he lives. He enjoys the varied landscapes and sunsets of Virginia; and art is the medium he uses to share his impressions.  www.markisaacslandscapes.com

September 3: Free Friday Movie in the Vineyard-featured film, A Good Year, starting at 8:00 p.m. and concluding at 11 p.m. Drive in, bring lawn chairs or a blanket and take in a film about wine while you’re drinking ours! Must be 21.

September 4-6: Labor Day Weekend, Release of 2009 Cabernet Franc.- The aromas of strawberries and cherries abound on this dark-colored Cabernet Franc that has soft and round tannins giving it a silky mouth feel. Having aged for nine months in mostly three and four year-old French oak gives just the right amount of oak on this fruit forward wine that has gone through complete malolactic fermentation.

September 5: Let the Games Begin! Celebrate Labor Day Weekend with lawn games, kites, and Frisbees. We have Frisbees and pits for your game of Horseshoes.. Bring your yard games along and spend quality time with family and friends.

September 6:-Monday of Labor Day Weekend closes out the summer, but the fun continues in the fresh air of wine country. September’s color palette softens the vineyard’s approach to harvest.

September 11-Sat.: Second Saturday Music Series from 3 – 6 p.m. with David Davol, guitarist and singer. If you have a request, David can more than likely meet it. His handout is out a 400-song request list and it is a work in progress.  www.marylandparty.com/daviddavol

September 17-Fri.: Red White and Brew, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., 17th Street Farmers Market, 100 North 17th Street, Richmond, VA 22319-3610. Live music from 5 – 9 p.m.

September 18:  Hume Appreciation Day – Philip Carter Winery will honor your Hume Appreciation Day Ticket or Program for a 10% discount off all wine purchases. Proudly situated in a lush bucolic atmosphere in Hume, we appreciate the advantages of our gorgeous landscape and its offerings. The vineyard, turning its coloration from late summer to autumn hues this month is but one of our drawing cards.

September 18 - 19: Virginia Wine Festival, Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, VA.

September 18, 10am, Rappahannock Rough Ride Partnership –benefit of Fauquier Free Clinic, this bicycle ride/race in its thirteenth year goes into wine country.  The Rappahannock Rough Ride is one of Virginia's most beautiful and challenging one-day bike tours. Your support helps provide medical and dental care to families that cannot afford it on their own. Every rider has an equal chance to win one of our fabulous donated prizes. 

September 23: Grapes with the Apes fundraiser to support the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. A day of wine tasting, food and animal demonstrations, live music and a VIP lounge.

September 25: Northern Virginia Corvette Club  - If you love Corvettes, own one or just have a great appreciation for them, it’s your day for a show of America’s sports car.  Founded in 1969, NVCC is a group of individuals whose backgrounds are diverse, but who share a common bond, the love of Corvettes and having fun with them. Join us from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. www.nvcorvetteclub.com.

September 25:  Hillbilly Hideaway BBQ will bring in their 26-foot catering trailer for the day offering Baby back ribs, chopped pork and beef brisket sandwiches and homemade French Fries!www.hillbillyhideawaycatering.com.
